Dusting off the keyboard

I would like to start this blog post by wishing you a happy new year. I hope that it is a year of joy and prosperity for you and that you grow to discover more of what serves you in 2025. If you are a first time reader, welcome to The Bronny Blog! And if you are an OG, it is wonderful to have you back.

You may be wondering why I have chosen to start up again after last posting in 2023. Let’s face it, blogs are considered to be really outdated but, you know what? I decided that 2025 is the year that I return to the things that bring me joy and reading and writing is definitely a happy place for me. So, yes, I have signed myself up to the ‘that’s not cool’ club (in blogging and other areas of my life) because it feeds my soul. As I write this I cannot help but wonder what old school, unique interests you continue to do despite everyone having moved on from them. If you have a moment, please comment and share those passions/ interests with me, I’d love to read about them.

Opening/ starting posts can be so awkward so instead of keeping you here for really long explanations I have decided that I will share little bits about me and my journey as we go along. For today I’d like to share what my intentions are for the blog and myself in 2025 in hopes that it will encourage you to set the tone for your year too (if you haven’t already done so). 2024 was a year of growth for me. I am really proud of my Instagram page (with the same name) and am blessed to have booked campaigns in nearly every month of the last year. My content creation has been a major faith walk for me, a testimony that I will be sure to share with you at some point. I would like to see it all grow in the year ahead but have realised that I need to set clear boundaries for myself and my family and for working with brands so that I come out at the other end healthy. I should probably share that I didn’t start this year on a high. In fact, I was exhausted, disconnected and had very little capacity for all the attention that my two little children needed from me. Those were clear signs that I had pushed myself too hard while chasing my goals; reflecting on and working through this had helped me to set clear intentions for the year ahead.

For the blog:

  • I’d like to get back to sharing my thoughts around motherhood and everyday experiences. There is something about people sharing common experiences that helps me to feel seen and I am hoping that the blog can do that, at times, for you, too.
  • I am about to qualify as a nutrition coach. I’d like to share little tips on family nutrition, especially around packed lunches for school, because we know that what children eat plays a big role in their ability to concentrate and perform tasks needed for school. This is something I will work on and grow slowly as I continue to learn and try new things with my own family.
  • I would like to use this platform to encourage you to find and nurture what serves you. Whether it be going for a twenty minute walk before supper, reading a few pages before bed, spending time outdoors with your family or waking up earlier to have some quiet time, I believe that it is vital to know what you need so that you can use it to add positivity to your life.
  • Lastly, looking and feeling good as a mom has become a focus on my Instagram page and I would like to take some of that and curate posts that you can always come back to for inspiration or a personal restart when you are feeling stuck with your wardrobe. As a mom I know all too well how easy it is to slip into tights and a tee because it is the easiest thing to do; I hope that my page will continue to show that comfort and practicality can be words associated with style, too.

In my personal capacity:

  • My family is my focus this year. In 2024 we made the decision together that I would focus on growing my second stream of income. I am excited for the possibilities for The Bronny Blog but I know that its success should not be at the expense of my children and husband and my relationships with them. They are my people!
  • I’d like to spend more time reading. I’ve already started my second book for the year and I am enjoying the world of the novel and the different ways of thinking that books (particularly pop science) present. I also find it to be a really calming pass time and so my literature graduate soul is very happy that the spectacles and reading lamp have been dusted off too!
  • Lastly, I have made rest a priority. EVERYTHING’s better when I am rested. I am more patient, am able to make better decisions and feel the rewards of being regulated when I don’t overextend myself (and my children).

If you would like to join me for this journey then please hit subscribe as I’d LOVE to share this year with you.

Until my next post,

Bronny x
