As the season changes, so does my daily hair routine. As a natural, air drying my hair is the best way to keep it healthy. However, cold winter mornings are a sure way to catch a cold or cause last winter’s ear ache if I leave the house with wet hair. My diffuser is my cold season’s best friend, but adding heat can often cause damage. Read on to see how I keep my hair naturally glossy during the colder months of the year.
My daily hair routine includes washing every third day and co-washing in between. My favourite moisture-rich conditioner is the Dove Daily Moisture conditioner with pro-moisture complex. I use this throughout the year and style my hair using a sparing amount of leave-in conditioner, followed by Aunty Jackie’s curls and coils curl la la defining curl custard. The curl custard is my favourite product because it is a lightweight product that leaves my hair looking moisturised without it being greasy or stiff. As a bonus, it leaves me smelling of fresh sweets: what a treat!
Heat can damage your hair, even when using a low-heat and speed setting. Because I have to diffuse on a regular basis, I take care to protect again heat damage. TRESemmé heat defense styling spray is my go-to product for this. It does what it promises to do: protects while sealing in the shine.
Recently, I posted about my pantry hair-care products (click through the published articles to find this one). While I encourage using natural ingredients to care for your hair, colder weather often leaves my hair feeling dry and in need of something more. Deep conditioning is vital. I should do it more often, but when I am desperate for moisture and shine I turn to the Dove treatments masks. The Nourishing Oil Care and Intense Repair are my favourite in the range.
These are my go-to hair care products for the colder season. Please share any further tips or leave a comment if you found this to be helpful.
